Valemount is located in the
interior of British Columbia between the North Thompson Valley
and Jasper, Alberta. Valemount's
population of approximately 1500 residents welcomes tourists
to discover the beauty of the area.
Valemount has many recreational
opportunities such as: heli-skiing, wilderness adventure, gentle-water
rafting, horseback riding, cross country skiing, snowmobiling,
sledding, ATV tours, hiking, heli-hiking and whitewater rafting.
Mount Robson Provincial Park is only 25 km (15 mi) from Valemount,
providing camping, hiking, and other outdoor activities in view
of the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. The headwaters of
the Fraser River lie within the Park. The Fraser is accessible
20 km north of Valemount for canoeing, kayaking, rafting, and
fishing.
Valemount’s history was shaped by Native
North Americans. Historical artifacts can be seen at the Valemount
and Area Museum.
